FAQ

.
What should I do if I'm having trouble with my installation?
First you should refer to any instructions that were sent out with your turbine. If your still having trouble, feel free to call us at 877-780-7992 from 8am to 6pm Eastern time, Monday through Fridays, excluding holidays, and we'll be happy to help walk you through it. If we can't resolve your installation issue over the phone, we'll be happy to do simple installations of your turbines for you for no charge. Complex installations, (dent removals, water line problems, back cap replacements, etc.) may be extra.
Are you the original manufacturers?
No, we are not the original manufacturers. We aren't associated with, or endorsed by the original manufacturers. Original manufacturers would recommend that you use their parts and repair services, it's highly profitable for them. In fact, most manufacturers would probably prefer if company's like ours didn't exist, because we take business from them. We use the same quality premium rated ABEC 9 steel and ABEC 7 Ceramic bearings as they do, often from the exact same suppliers they use, and we offer them to our customers for lower prices. We expect that our custom built turbines will perform just as well as turbines you would buy from the original manufacturers, with a significant price savings to your practice.
Do you repair turbines?
Yes, we may be able to repair your old turbine. If you buy one of our replacement turbines, and send us your old turbine, we will test the chuck strength. If it passes our pull test, and still has sufficient grip strength, we'll replace the bearings and send you new O-rings for a very reasonable charge (prices vary from $79-$99). With this option you'll save even more on replacement turbines, and have a spare for the next time you need to change a turbine.
Do you sell handpieces?
Yes, we have access to wholesale pricing on many brands of handpieces, and can pass on substantial savings to our customers. For specific requests, use the contact us tab and be as specific as possible about what type of handpiece you're looking for. Check back with us soon for pages dedicated to handpieces for sale.
Is there a warranty with my purchase?
  • Yes, all of our premium replacement turbines come with a 6 month warranty from the date of the invoice. We only use parts from established complanies, and we have no problem replacing defective parts, although this rarely happens. Turbines that haven't been maintained properly and come back to us rusty or dirty, obviously exposed to higher than recommended PSI levels, or not lubricated, may not be eligible for warranty. We work for you to get the best parts, and we'll work with you in the event of a defective part, but we expect that you'll work with us, to maintain your handpieces according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
  • With proper maintenance, you should expect at least a year of service from our turbines. If you aren't routinely getting a year from our turbines, we encourage you to contact us and we may be able to help you do some troubleshooting.
  • Our repair service warranties range from 3 to 6 months depending on the work performed.
  • How long should I expect my turbines to last?
With proper maintenance, and typical usage, you should expect to get at least a year of service from our turbines. If your turbines aren't lasting for at least a year, please refer to the recommended PSI and lubrication guidelines from the manufacturers listed below, or give us a call for more tips on extending your turbine life. Each operatory should also have at least three, preferably four highspeed handpieces available - one in use, one in the autoclave, one air cooling from the autoclave, and then a spare for when one goes down. Never run a handpiece that's still hot, this will shorten the life of a turbine. Never run a handpiece without a bur in place, even when lubricating, this will shorten the life of the chuck.
What is the correct PSI to run a high speed handpiece?
Most high speed handpieces are designed to run at a PSI in the mid 30's. Please refer to your specific model from the chart below:

If you're experiencing early failure of your turbines, please have the air pressure settings at your operatories checked by a certified technician, review proper lubrication procedures with your staff, and be sure no one ever runs your handpieces without a bur in place, even during lubrication.
What is the correct way to lubricate a high speed handpiece?
Consistent lubrication practices, running your handpieces at the correct PSI's, and never running a high speed handpiece without a bur in place or while it's still hot, are the four most important things you can do to get the most life out of your turbines. High speed handpieces should be lubricated after each procedure, then run for 10 to 15 seconds with a bur in place to expel any debris that may have gotten into the head during the procedure. Always have a bur in place whenever you run a highspeed handpiece. That's worth repeating, ALWAYS have a bur in place when you run a handpiece, even when you're lubricating it. Then, remove the bur and place the handpiece in your autoclave for 20 minutes at 270F with the paper side of the autoclave pouch facing up. (Please Note: Excessively hot sterilization can break down O-rings prematurely, which can lead to early turbine failure). You should have the temperature of your autoclave checked periodically. After heat sterilization, let the handpiece cool naturally to room temperature, lubricate it and run it again for a couple of seconds prior to the next procedure. Never submerge a handpiece in any liquid, or use cold water to cool a handpiece, this will definitely shorten the life of a turbine, and can even cause the handpiece to rust. There are some "one step" lubricants (such as Syntek) on the market that don't require post autoclave lubrication. Be sure you know what type of lubricant you're using, and follow the directions on the can or dropper. We use lube free bearings in our Star replacement turbines, so no lubrication is necessary, and will damage lube free bearings.
    What about bur selection?
A good rule of thumb is that the length of the bur extending out of the handpiece shouldn't be longer that the length of the handpiece head. Extra long burs put excessive strain on the bearings, and can shorten turbine life. Never "cheat" the bur by pulling it out slightly to get extra length. This will put excessive strain on the chuck and bearings, which will lead to early turbine failure. Another note about burs - we recommend using high quality burs from well established companies. If you choose to use disposable burs, remember they are designed for a single use, and should not be used repeatedly. Even the slightest bend in a bur can cause early turbine failure. If your handpiece seems to be wobbling, change the bur immediately and discard it.

Who do I contact if my package was damaged or lost during shipment?
All of our turbines are carefully packaged, and sent out through USPS Priority mail, with a tracking number that will be sent to your E-mail. In the unusual event of any shipping damage or loss caused by the Postal Service from our facility to you during transit, simply return the damaged package to us or notify us of any loss, and we'll send you a replacement. In our experience, shipping loss or damage is extremely rare, and we want to keep our customers happy, so we'll do our best to work with you in the unlikely event of any shipping loss or damage.
What should I know about dental bearings?
Dental bearings are compared using what's known as thier ABEC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABEC_scale) rating. We use ABEC 9 Stainless Steel and ABEC 7+ Ceramic bearings in all of our turbines. ABEC 9 is the highest rating on the ABEC scale, but Ceramics run cooler and may last longer. You can be confident that we use the best available, highest quality bearings in all of our turbines. There are other things you should know regarding your dental bearings. Some are lube free, lubricating lube free bearings can break down the lube that comes packed in the original bearing and should be avoided since this will void your warranty. We use lube free bearings in our Star high speed turbines. We have access to lube free bearings for some other models. If you're interested, give us a call or hit the contact us tab. The two most important things you should know are whether the bearings you're using are at least an ABEC 7, and whether or not they are lube free. We use ABEC 9 and Ceramic ABEC 7+ bearings and have them available for all makes and models.
